01

Start with a controlled drawing

Provide the overall length and width, thickness, corner radius, outline, hole diameter, hole center positions and any critical datums. Use millimeters or inches consistently and include a revision number.

A photograph is useful for context but cannot replace dimensions. If the design file is not production-ready, state which measurements are critical and request a technical review.

02

Describe both faces

Identify the printable face, coating or finish, color, protective film and any back-side requirement. For brushed material, state the required grain direction relative to the part.

03

Define acceptable edges and holes

Discuss burr expectations, corner feel, hole finish and whether parts will be handled directly by consumers. Extremely small holes or narrow material between a hole and edge may require redesign.

04

Plan sampling and approval

The first sample should confirm dimensions, visual finish, film, printing behavior and packaging fit. Approve the physical sample together with a dated drawing; approving only one can leave ambiguity.

If tooling is required, clarify ownership, maintenance and what happens when the drawing changes.

Package the part you designed

Custom shapes can interlock, scratch or concentrate load at corners during transit. Specify separation material, orientation, pieces per bag or carton, labels and pallet limits where they matter.

The final quotation should state MOQ, sample status, production assumptions, packaging and delivery term so price comparisons are based on the same scope.
